An open letter to the bike industry – Keep doing what you’re doing

The bike industry created this. Nuff said!

We probably all have that friend. You know, the one when 29er’s came out had a hissy fit about the bike industry just doing it to make us spend money. Normally they also bang on about how their trusty 26” bike or steel road bike was better in every way. They probably had the same strop when fat bikes, carbon, 650b, 29+, 27+ or new (insert any brand you like) BB or headset standard came out. I agree with them and I think they are right; the bike industry does want our money. However what’s wrong with that? I love my 29er, really want a 29+ and have a myriad of different BB and headset standards on my bike collection. Continue reading

Salsa Deadwood – Bikepacking Bike

If you are planning a bikepacking trip, this certainly looks like a bike that can handle pretty much anything you throw at it! I’d have loved to take this across portugal and for the upcoming trips over winter and next year. Head over to the bikepacking.com site to read a full review.

Ti Tuesday – T6 Standard Fat

I’ve accidentally skipped a week of titanium lushness, so let’s bring it back with the new Twin Six Standard Fat.

Ti Tuesday – Jones

I can’t believe I haven’t featured a Jones yet! There are a few people around this area that are lucky enough to have one. Characterised by their love / hate looks and truss rigid fork they certainly are striking. Jimbo

Ti Tuesday – Moots Psychlo X RSL

OK, so it’s another Moots, but just look at it! This is a thing of beauty, I could make some space in Jimbo towers for one of these…..

Ti Tuesday – Kinesis Tripster ATR

OK, so I admitted I have a titanium fetish, I reckon it’s time to show you one of mine at last! So here’s probably the most used of them, the Kinesis Tripster ATR. I rarely ride on the road anymore and if I want to cover some extra miles then this is the tool for the job, I can combine some country lanes with pretty much anything I would normally ride on my MTB.

I’ve added a few extras to the original spec, it has the Exposure Revo dynamo hub and light fitted, so I can commute on it and I never have to think about charging my lights. Stan’s Grail rims, so I can run it tubeless and greatly reduce the amount of punctures I get with the overzealous descending it encourages. Just to finish it off is a Tubus Airy Ti rack, which carries a set of Ortleib rolltop paniers.

Carver Bikes, who wouldn’t want a bike called The Gnarvester? Titanium 29 or 29+ lushness, this looks like it would be a lot of fun to ride……. Jimbo
